Dread...

A lot of my life lately has been 'dread'...

I've been dreading hearing a 'no' from MIT - not sure how I'll handle it, but I'm going to have to. My life will be put on a serious hold if that happens, so we're praying, and hoping that it doesn't. I'm not big into prayer, but we're givin it a go on this one.

I've emailed this lady Cynthia already asking for an update and maybe a date I'll hear by. If I don't hear from her by tomorrow I'm sending another one, this time a "I'll go ahead and assume I've been readmitted as I head back to campus at the end of January."

...

Another decision has been made.. this one heavily dependent on my readmission to MIT, being that I wouldn't be able to do it if I were here with my parents.. this is going to have to happen as I'm away, and they'll just have to love me the way I am when they see me.

I have decided, after much deliberation, to dread my hair. It's so annoying the stereotype that people have on dreads. They're just like sponges attached to your head, so sure, after washing them you have to wring them like you would a sponge. People think that dreads are unwashed and dirty - so not true. In fact, you should wash dreads. Unwashed, dirty hair is unhealthy and it stinks. Dreads are so misunderstood!

I've decided as a present to myself, I am going to just do it.

I've wanted to for so long. Sure, I have gorgeous hair and people are like "don't ruin your hair, don't do it.." ... hello! misunderstanding 8million... dreads are actually a very healthy hairstyle. It does not damage your hair to have worn it in a dreaded style for any period of time.

Also, people have said "you'll have to go bald when you grow out of them, Miss Astronaut"... well well, wrong again. You can actually cut them down to about 2-4 inches in length, so you will have short hair, but will still have hair nonetheless - pretty cool.

So yes, to tide you over, here are some photos of mine that I am going to be ambitious towards, of course, pending my readmission to the 'tute.

Can't wait! I'll always have my gorgeous blonde locks.. they'll come back when it's time. For now, it's time for a serious change.

What you doin here? WELCOME TO THE SHOW!
my stars, so far, no one's calling me home...
believes the underdog will eventually survive!
awesome. I live in the Fenway across the bridge :D
Ha! I have some friends who live at MIT's Fenway House on the same street! Used to go there every Wednesday for dessert night!
haha oh man I know that exact house. I don't actually live ON the street named "the Fenway," I live in the neighborhood named the Fenway hah. I live on block from the Prudential building
oh man.. when I was a frosh we used to walk the Harvard Bridge to the Pru to get clam chowder and cheesy fries.. then when I moved closer to Kendall I'd ride the green line for half an hour instead of walk an hour.. part of me doesn't miss those days. =)
